December 10-14, 2022

Occupational Therapy Edition

How the Summit Works & Frequently Asked Questions

The Summit is taking place online from Dec 10th to December 14th, 2022. You will have access to each day’s five pre-recorded interviews/conversations for 24 hours on the day that they are released (starting at 8 a.m EST to 8 a.m EST the next day)

This a virtual event and it is FREE FOR ALL to attend. If you are registered, you will receive an email on December 10th, 2022 at 8 a.m EST with the password that you will need to enter to gain access to the Summit’s content. You will be able to access the Summit on this website from your desktop, laptop or phone or from wherever you have access to the Internet.

The information is intended for occupational therapy practitioners (occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants), occupational therapy students and other service providers who are interested in learning about and embedding neurodiversity-affirming and strengths based approaches into their work to best support children and youth on the autism spectrum.

Holland Bloorview’s Autism Summit-OT Edition is an inclusive event and is open to all.  While the Summit and the accompanying Autism Occupational Therapy Resource Toolkit have been specifically designed to meet the learning needs of occupational therapy practitioners and occupational therapy students in Ontario as identified in a province wide survey completed in March of 2022, other health care professionals, autistic people, caregivers are most welcome to attend

You do not need to be an OSOT member to register to the Summit. You will just need to create a non-member account. If you are experiencing issues with registering, please follow these step-by-step registration instructions.

Of course! The Summit is open to ALL. The Internet has no boundaries and neither do we.  Please note however that we cannot accommodate different time zones. Access to each Summit day will be given at 8 a.m. EST until 8 a.m EST the next morning. You will receive an email on each Summit day at 8 a.m. EST with the access password.

They vary from 30-70 minutes each. Since you will be able to go back and listen to these conversations in the future (provided that you have registered), I wasn’t particular about the timing of each.

Each day’s 5 interviews will be available for 24 hours, starting at 8 a.m EST time and ending on the following day at 8 a.m EST. You can view any of the day’s 5 interviews anytime during that period. Each day you will receive an email with a link to the 5 interviews featured in each Summit day. To convert the time into your local time you can use this time zone converter

Please note that the videos are working fine in our hosting platform. The videos are hosted in Vimeo, which is a video hosting platform like YouTube. This means that millions of people could be watching a particular video at any time. The issue may have something to do with your internet connection. Try refreshing the page or trying another device to watch the summit from such as your phone.

YES! As this is a project delivered in partnership with the Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists (OSOT) and funded by Ontario’s Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS) through the Workforce Capacity Fund, we aim to make this knowledge translation event accessible to all registered participants as well as to those who will hopefully choose to work in this field in the near future.

As long as you have registered to attend the Summit, you will have continued complimentary or FREE access to the full Summit’s content as of December 15th, 2022 for at least a one year period.  However, in order to continue to advocate for the recognition and inclusion of our profession in wider contexts, we do please ask that you do take the short time to fill out your post-summit questionnaire. Like any best practice, we need to measure outcomes through the collection of anonymous data which will help in demonstrating the value of initiatives such as this one and continue our advocating efforts at various levels.

Some people are taking education days to attend the Summit and others will be watching as able during the Summit days.  If able, and particularly if you are from Ontario, do please try to attend the 3 LIVE panel presentations and Q&A discussions that will be taking place on December 10th, December 12th and 13th from 12noon-1pm EST.

Yes, we will provide you with a Certificate of Participation for Holland Bloorview’s Autism Summit after the Summit is over. There will be 2 certificate options available.
